                       “UGHA NOKARO” – ( Lesson 1 )

In Edo language, we have 24 alphabets in big letters also in small letter, they are:

BIG LETTERS
A B D E Ẹ F G I H K L M N O Ọ P R S T U V W Y Z.

SMALL LETTERS
a b d e ẹ f g i h k l m n o ọ p r s t u v w y z.

In these alphabets we have two important letters that are not in English alphabets, they are ẹ and ọ. We pronounce ẹ as err and ọ as or. The important of these letters are discussed and demonstrated in the Introduction.

PRONOUNCIATION
In “Edo language alphabets” pronunciation, there are some little differences from the English Alphabets though they look the same.
We pronounce

A as in Apple
B as in Bitter
D as in Dig
E as in Eze
Ẹ as ẹrr
F as in Fish
G as in Give
I as in Image
H as in Hilux
K as in Kate
L as in Lake
M as in Minister
N as in Nissan
O as in Open
Ọ as Or
P as in Peace
R as in Read
S as in Silver
T as in Tea
U as in Uzziah
V as in Victory
W as in Wicked
Y as in Yield
Z as in Zeal
You can now start practicing the correct the pronunciation of the 24 Edo language alphabets as many times as you can, until you are alright with them.

  • HOW MANY SINGLE ALPHABETS DO WE HAVE IN EDO LANGUAGE
  • WHICH TWO AMONG THE EDO ALPHABETS ARE NOT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE
  • WRITE DOWN ALL SINGLE ALPHABETS.

READ ALOUD ALL THE SINGLE ALPHABETS IN EDO LANGUAGE.
